Cool Ring Transportation Methods

Removing Cool Ring

1. Lay tree on its side to remove the bottom fabric with a sharp pull or by severing with a shovel.

2. Remove the ring by pulling at the vertical seam of overlapping wire.

Landscape Installation

1. Dig a hole 50% wider than the root ball on all sides

.2. The hole should be slightly less than the depth of the root ball. If soil is loosened below the root ball, settling may occur and the root ball could wind up lower than the soil line.

3. Remove all air pockets by muddying the excavated soil while planting. Soil amendments are not normally required. Vertical sides and a wide bottom provide an improved footprint which makes the root ball less likely to shift after planting.

4. Follow local professional nurserymen's landscape grade and standards in tree staking and related maintenance.

Irrigation Guidelines - Hardiness Zones 9 -11

1. Water rates are based on 3 gallons of water per caliper inch (University of Florida Research).

2. Adjust rates based on the soil moisture within the root ball profile, the soil moisture in the adjacent native soil, and the visible hydration level of the tree's foliage.

3. Water should be delivered to the root ball in a slow manner to allow adequate penetration and absorption.

4. Irrigation rates should be increased with warmer temperatures and decreased with cooler temperatures.

5. Irrigation rates should be reduced during tree dormancy

6. Establishment rates are based on 3 months per inch of trunk caliper.

7. An optimum root ball soil moisture profile can be better maintained if water is applied in multiple irrigation cycles during the day.
